Finished

One of the most intense shoots we've ever worked on was Finished, a short film for A/G NYM; written and directed by Dan DeFelice and featuring a number of awesome collaborative talents, Finished was chosen as an official Vimeo Staff Pick.

Together with Andy Catarisano we spent the day traversing the snowy 14'er peaks of Southern Colorado on snowshoes, hauling several hundred pounds of gear as well as authentic antique mountaineering props all the while fighting through sporadic blizzards, thin atmosphere, and several cameras shutting down from the extreme low temperatures.

We experimented with a few novel techniques to create some of the distorted and frozen-over appearance in several latter shots like lens whacking and shooting through shards of antique glass.

The end result is a beautifully put-together period piece about the idea of "overcoming the immediate while pressing on in the greater journey." which couldn't be more pertinent to the actual experience of shooting these scenes.
